Heinrich: Declassify Report Detailing CIA’s Interrogation Program

WASHINGTON, D.C. - U.S. Senator Martin Heinrich (D-N.M.), a member of the U.S. Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, is calling for a full and transparent accounting of the CIA's interrogation program and full declassification of the committee's study on the program.

Last year, the Senate Intelligence Committee voted to adopt the study, which is a 6,000-page comprehensive review of the Bush administration's CIA interrogation program based on a documentary review of over six million pages of CIA and other records.

During the confirmation hearing today for CIA General Counsel Nominee Caroline Diane Krass, Senator Heinrich made it clear that the CIA has misrepresented the content of the study, and urged that the full report be declassified so that the public knows the truth.

"I am convinced now more than ever that we need to declassify the full report, so that those with a political agenda can no longer manipulate public opinion by making false representations about what is, or is not, in the study," said Senator Heinrich.
