Fiber Rocks--a testimony to the wealth of local heritage through contemporary creative expression. This traveling exhibition displays the creative artwork of 20+ Fiber Artists from six states, who have been directly inspired by their visit to the Mesa Prieta Petroglyph Preserve. Motivated by the images edged in rock, the artists have created distinctive works of art spanning a wide range of 2- and 3-dimensional Fiber Arts disciplines. The show will open in Española and tour to Santa Fe and Taos in 2016. Española location: at the Misión and Convento Gallery Thursday, November 19th, 2015 – Sunday January 3rd, 2016 Reception: Saturday, December 12th, 2015: 5pm – 7 pm. Gallery Hours: Monday-Friday 9 am-4pm.
A great opportunity and a great privilege is coming up on December 18, 2015 to help Honor Veterans primarily from Northern New Mexico, but is open to the public. Never before has there been a "Military Veteran Stand Down" in the Espanola Valley. On December 18, 2015 from 10:00 am-2:00 pm we will conduct the "Veterans Stand Down" at the Northern New Mexico College Gymnasium.
Representatives from support agencies, businesses and non-profit groups are coming together to help those who have sacrificed to serve our country.
Services & programs available for veterans at the event will include:
- Free legal advice/assistance, Free haircuts For veterans, Receive professional assistance in preparing your resume
- Apply for health-care and other benefits through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the New Mexico Department of Veterans’ Services, Free lunch provided to veterans
- Learn about higher educational opportunities at NNMC, Learn about local social services available to veterans and their families
